Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Names KnowledgeBank CEO Tom Wimer to Board of Directors
McLean, VA, March 06, 2007 - Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB), a nonprofit charitable organization headquartered in Washington, DC that serves the area’s blind and visually impaired population has named KnowledgeBank President & CEO Tom Wimer to its 2007 Board of Directors.
Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is the only organization in the Greater Washington, DC area that provides a comprehensive range of programs and services for the approximately 20,000 people living in the region who are blind or visually impaired. These programs and services are provided to people of all ages and regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. CLB also operates a full-service facility in Riverdale, MD that provides training and consultation in assistive technology; educational and social skills; employment training and career placement services; comprehensive low-vision care; and a wide range of rehabilitative services.
In addition to Mr. Wimer, other new member elected include Peter Buchanan, managing partner NewPlan, LLC, a strategic planning and business development consulting firm in Gaithersburg, MD and Edward Mansfield, director of advertising for Washingtonian magazine. Returning to the board are Rodney Buck and Haze Hanna. Buck, a certified public accountant, is president of the Columbia Group, a technical support services company headquartered in Washington, DC. Hanna is vice president with L-3 Communications, Linguist Operations and Technical Support Division, a provider of information and communications products and services for national security in Reston, VA.
