Former NASA Chief Human Capital Officer, Vicki Novak, joins KnowledgeBank as Special Advisor
McLean, VA – May 13, 2009 – Vicki Novak, former Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) for NASA and distinguished Federal government human capital management executive, has joined KnowledgeBank, Inc. as Senior Advisor. Ms. Novak brings more than 35 years of public sector experience to her role, and will work closely with KnowledgeBank’s Federal Practice to expand their growing federal market presence and to serve as a senior client advisor.
She spent the last half of her career at NASA Headquarters in a number of human resources leadership positions, the last of which was NASA’s Chief Human Capital Officer. Prior to that, she served in a wide range of human resources positions at the Department of Commerce, Housing and Urban Development and Department of Transportation.
During her tenure at NASA, before becoming CHCO, she served as Associate Administrator for Human Capital Management, Director of Personnel, Personnel Officer for NASA Headquarters and Special Assistant to the Director of Personnel. Ms. Novak is recognized within the Federal government as an innovative, dynamic champion of human capital management who has made substantial contributions to the federal workforce as a member of the Chief Human Capital Officer’s Council. She is also recognized as leader in NASA’s initiative to become the first government agency to achieve a GREEN rating for the human capital initiative of the President’s Management Agenda.
Ms. Novak has received many awards during her Federal career, most notably Presidential Rank Awards for Distinguished and Meritorious Executive Service, three NASA Outstanding Leadership Medals, several NASA Exceptional Achievement Medals, and the Department of Transportation’s Secretarial Award for Meritorious Achievement. She is a member of the Senior Executive Association, and she is actively involved in raising funds for children’s charities.
